Bucknell Wrestling hosted the Morgan State Bears this Sunday, Nov. 10. The Bison made quick work of the Bears on their way to a dominant 35-8 victory. Bucknell won eight of ten matches and was clearly the stronger team throughout the afternoon.
Kurt Phipps ’25 (133), Dylan Chappell ’25 (141), Myles Takats ’27 (174), Logan Deacetis ’25 (184) and Dillon Bechtold ’28 (197) all achieved victory by a technical fall, recording five points each for the Bison.
The onslaught of points did not stop there, however, as Braden Bower ’26 (149), Cade Wirnsberger ’27 (157) and Creed Thomas ’28 (165) all won via decisions to extend the Bucknell lead even more.
Bucknell wrestlers only saw defeat in the first and last matches of the day, as Grayson McLellan ’26 (125) and Logan Shephard ’26 (285) both lost in decisions. The Bison will look proudly upon their performance, as they took care of business against the Bears.
A greater challenge looms on the horizon, as the Bison will travel to face Minnesota on Friday, Nov. 15. The Golden Gophers of the Big Ten will be perhaps the biggest test yet for the Bison. The Gophers’ impressive start to the season has earned them the #13 ranking in the most recent NWCA poll.
