Men’s Swimming and Diving had a great weekend where they placed second in a quad meet with fellow Patriot League teams American, Navy and Lafayette. The Bison competed on Saturday, Nov. 9 at home in the Kinney Natatorium.
“We look at our fall meets as stepping stones towards our midseason and long-term goal,” Head Coach Dan Schinnerer said. “Being at home is always nice because we don’t have to deal with travel. The team gets to sleep in their own beds and walk down to warm-up.”
The meet started on a strong note with a third-place finish by Shane Wynne ’26, Will Hedges ’25, Finn Russell ’27 and Justin DiSanto ’25 in the 200-yard medley relay. Wynne also clinched second behind Navy in the 200-yard butterfly later in the day. Damian Czartoryjski ’28 and Russell took first and second in the 100 butterfly, respectively. Hedges continued his success by finishing fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke, while Andy Dorsel ’25 stole second in the 200-yard breast as well.
DiSanto tied third in the 50-yard freestyle, also placing second in the 100-yard. “Justin DiSanto deserves recognition,” Coach Schinnerer shared. “He showed good progress in his performances in the 50 and 100 freestyle events. Both his times were season bests by a solid amount.”
The Bison efforts continued with Chris Kopac ’25, Alex Crossing ’26 and Riley Twiss ‘27 sweeping the top three placements in the 500-yard freestyle event. Braden Beagle ’26 also took third in the 200-yard backstroke, and Dante Buonadonna ’28 won the 100-yard IM, with Dorsel following in second.
The Orange and Blue’s diving team also had successes as Jack Krug ’26 scored third for the 10-meter diving and fourth in the 3-meter. Connor Thurston ’27 placed third in the 3-meter dive as well. The day concluded with Kopac, Russell, Disanto and Colin Smith ’27 winning their 200-yard freestyle relay.
The Bison finished in front of American and Lafayette in every event except for one.
“We will put in another week of good training and then rest slightly in preparation for our midseason Invite,” Coach Schinnerer said.
The Orange and Blue will return to the pool for a three-day trial meet from Nov. 22-24 back at home.
