It was a busy weekend for Bucknell Men’s Tennis as the program had players competing in the ITA Conference Masters Championship in Rome, Ga. from Nov. 7-8 and also in the Navy Invitational from Nov. 9-10.
On day one of the ITA Championship, Amar Tahirovic ’26 had the best day he could’ve asked for as he won two singles matches and a doubles match with Brendan McDonald ’26. Tahirovic advanced to the quarterfinals of the singles draw, with another win guaranteeing him an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
Unfortunately, the Bison’s run at these championships came to an end on day two.
Tahirovic went on to lose his next singles match 6-3, 6-2, thus closing his chances to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships at the event.
Tahirovic and McDonald won their first doubles match of the day before falling in the quarterfinals to a duo from Mississippi State, 6-2, 6-2.
“With there being so much at stake and this tournament being the biggest tournament I have played in my college career during the fall season, I honestly went into it with no pressure, knowing that these are some of the best players in the nation,” Tahirovic said. “It was just an honor being a part of this tournament, showing myself that I can battle against the top guys.”
In the Navy Invitational, Liam Kilmer ’27 and Shiv Singh ’28 both went 3-0 in singles play to lead the way for the Bison.
Adam Stavrakas ’26 and Will Robinson ’27 each went 2-1 in singles, which was a round robin format.
Oscar Bain Moreno de Vega ’26 and Felix Steindl ’28 won one singles match each at the event.
Doubles teams of Robinson/Kilmer and Stavrakas/Steindl each went 2-1 across the event.
This marks the end of a great fall season for Men’s Tennis.
