On Monday, Nov. 11, Bucknell Women’s Swimming and Diving competed against American, Lafayette and Navy at home in the Kinney Natatorium. Bucknell defeated American 244.5-54.5 and Lafayette 234-66 but lost to Navy 161-134.
Over the course of the three-team meet, the Bison won six events outright. Bucknell also finished ahead of American in every event and placed in front of Lafayette in all but two.
Clara Renner ’28 was a standout for Bucknell this weekend. She won three events and posted the third-fastest time in school history in the 200-yard butterfly. She won in the 500 and 1000 freestyle and the 200 fly. Despite having just started her career at Bucknell, Renner has eight individual wins in three meets.
In the 500 free, Renner and Kelly Byrne ’27 took the top two spots, and in the 1000 free, they went 1 and 3 respectively, with one Navy swimmer in between.
Kyla Kelly ’26 also won two events for the Bison in the 100 free and 100 individual medley, and Rylee Giles ’25 won one in the 200 free.
Other Bison swimmers who won events were Sofia Burns ’28 in the 100 back, Sydney Jee ’28 in the 100 breast, Virginia Hastings ’27 in the 50 free, Talia Bugel ’27 in the 200 back and Skye Sunderhauf ’25 in the 100 fly.
The two Bucknell relays, the 200 medley and 200 free, also finished ahead of both American and Lafayette.
In both diving events, Natalie Penman ’27 placed towards the top and even set a PR on the three-meter board with the ninth-best score in team history.
After this weekend, the Bison are now 3-1 on the season.
From Nov. 22-24, Bucknell will host the Bucknell Invitational at Kinney Natatorium. This event is essentially three days of trials and finals to simulate a postseason championship meet.
