After a challenging match against Fordham, Bucknell Men’s Water Polo fell short to the undefeated and third-ranked Rams.
Fordham came out strong and established an early lead with the first three goals of the game. Bucknell lost control in the first quarter of the game until Jovan Udovicic ’28, Aleksa Stefanovic ’26 and Maxime Touzot ’26 all scored, ending the first half 7-3.
The second half showed more promise with Sean Tunnicliff ’27 scoring, lighting a spark for the Bucknell offense. This also lit a spark for Fordham, which set off six goals in a row. Despite the setback, Tyler Hedblad ’28 came out and broke the scoring drought with a goal in the fourth quarter. However, Fordham responded with three more goals in a row to secure the win.
The Bison remained strong and united with multiple players scoring throughout the game to keep the spirits high. Jack Dillane ’28 finished as the game’s top scorer, and the Bison ended the game strong regardless of Fordham’s consistent scoring.
It was then a tough loss for Men’s Water Polo against Wagner after a valiant effort, with a final score of 16-14.
The Bison came out on fire in the first quarter with early goals by Matt Ryckman ’25, Tunnicliff and Stefanovic, quickly taking a 3-0 lead. Although the Bison were able to gain a significant lead, Wagner responded with three goals to tie the game. Concluding the first half, Wagner took the lead 9-7 with consecutive shots.
Stefanovic led Bucknell’s offense with six goals, and Ryckman followed with four in the second half. There were goals scored all over the board by Tunnicliff, Dillane, Udovicic, Jack Murad ’26 and Shay Gillearn ’25. The entire game was a nail-biter, but the Bison were not able to pull out a win.
Despite back-to-back losses, Men’s Water Polo is now 11-15 and 7-7 in the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference and will participate in the MAWPC Championships at Navy next, starting Nov. 22.
