The Paris Bakery:
Welcome back! Grace and Grace look forward to giving you their caffeine recommendations as we head into another semester.
For our first Coffee Corner of the semester, we headed downtown to Paris Bakery! While this cafe opened up just a year ago, Paris Bakery has grown to offer a delicious array of pastries, drinks and foods! Located at 335 Market Street in Lewisburg, the store is decorated with pretty pink flowers and pops of decor that embrace the Parisian style. Their pastries are baked fresh every morning, and you can try them as early as 6 a.m. or late into the night until 9 p.m. during the week. Whether you’re looking for a sweet pick-me-up or a date night spot, the menu caters to many different groups. Recently, they released the popular Dubai chocolate bars, which are filled with knafeh and pistachio!
The Pastries: Boasting a variety of traditional French pastries with innovative flavor combinations, Paris Bakery has lots of different sweets to choose from. These pastries are rich in flavor and beautiful to look at, offering a great photo opportunity with your sweet treat. From pistachio to chocolate almond to passion fruit, they offer a range of sweet croissant flavors. Paris Bakery focuses on high-quality goods and fresh ingredients to craft their tasty creations, bringing a new bakery option to the Lewisburg food scene.
What We Got: Grace and Grace both got croissants to pair with our coffee! Grace got a pistachio latte with a passion fruit croissant (topped with gold foil!), while Grace got a cappuccino and an almond pain au chocolat. Grace has tried their raspberry tart and tiramisu croissant in the past and reports that they were absolutely delicious as well!
While we normally give an overall rating, we thought it was only right to give separate reviews for the coffee and the pastries, as our opinions differ vastly. For the coffee, we would give it a 2.3/5, while the pastries are a solid 4.6/5. The pastries are an absolute treat, a high-quality French delicacy that you can’t always find in Lewisburg. The coffees were underwhelming and, with their high price-point, we will not be returning for drinks any time soon.
Flavor: Both of the coffees gave exactly what we ordered, nothing more, nothing less. The pistachio latte had a strong pistachio syrup flavor, tasting a bit like a pistachio ice cream. The cappuccino was good, but nothing to write home about. Both Grace and Grace felt like the coffees were average—good, but not great.
Fame: Paris Bakery has quickly become a well-known spot that is favored by Bucknellians! However, in our experience, the pastries and baked items are talked about more than the coffee.
Fun: The space is truly embracing all things floral, pink and Paris! We had a fun time catching up in the space and look forward to sitting outside when it gets warmer. If you’re looking for a place to chat with a friend or read a book with a sweet treat, this place is right for you!
Funds: These coffees were expensive for what you got! The small eight ounce pistachio latte was $7.95, coming out to about a dollar an ounce. For the quality of coffee, we thought the cost was a bit much. The cappuccino rang in at $4.95 for a small, a much more reasonable price but still not worth it in our opinions.
