Bison Men’s Lacrosse made Bucknell history after their second consecutive game scoring at least 20 goals. The Bison defeated St. Bonaventure at the Tom 80′ and Michelle Marra Athletics Field Complex this past Saturday. Now 2-0, the Orange and Blue are showing signs of a great season ahead.
Connor Davis ’25 had a standout game, scoring five goals passing two other team alums for the title of second-most goals in school history. Michael Meyer ’26 also played a phenomenal game with a total of six points including four goals and two assists. He and Davis now lead the team with 14 goals each. Luke Brunner ’27 impressed with his first career hat trick along with Peter Grandolfo ’28 and Anthony Panetti ’28 who each had two goals in the game.
The Orange and Blue kicked off the game with control of the ball in the majority of the first half and managed the first seven goals of the match. At the end of the first quarter, the Bison led the game 3-0 with two goals from Davis and one from Panetti.
Stepping into the second quarter, the score rose to 7-0 after four goals in the first eight minutes thanks to Meyer, Brunner, Owen Kovacs ’26 and Grandolfo. Within 90 seconds, St. Bonaventure had two quick goals landing them on the scoreboard, but Meyer and Panetti quickly gave Bucknell back the 7-goal advantage after a point from each of them. Going into halftime, the score landed at 9-3.
St. Bonaventure came into the third quarter with energy and scored a goal in the first two minutes. The Orange and Blue didn’t wait long before scoring four consecutive goals, bringing the score to 13-4. Following two more goals from St. Bonaventure, the Orange and Blue secured a decent lead with five goals in the last 3:25 of the quarter.
The last quarter of the game ended with four first-time goals from Chris Begier ’26, Jack Dudas ’25 and Sean Kerwick ’28. The Bison defense earned praise after only allowing two goals from St. Bonaventure in the fourth quarter. The game ended with a final score of 21-8.
The Bison outshot St. Bonaventure 59-33, had only 10 turnovers, and forced 21 turnovers on their opponent. Goalie Luke Renaud ’26 had a great game with eight saves in goal.
