This past Saturday, the Bison played a tough and impressive game against Dartmouth, which ultimately ended in an 11-13 loss for the Orange and Blue. Before the second half of the game, Dartmouth’s offense was particularly explosive with seven goals in the second quarter. However, the Bison were far from giving up. They managed four goals midway through the fourth quarter, but Dartmouth was just able to eke out two more goals, resulting in a loss for the Bison.
Connor Davis ’25 still had something to celebrate from the game, though. As the nation’s leading goal-scorer, Davis achieved four goals during the game against Dartmouth. This gave him 17 total goals already for the season. Now, Davis is just 13 goals away from breaking the school record of 138 career goals. Michael Meyer ’26 also deserves an honorable mention. He completed his third consecutive hat trick across the three games so far this season. Currently, the point leaders of the team are Davis, who has 20 points and Meyer with 19.
The Orange and Blue came out strong in the first quarter off the high of their past two wins. They managed three straight goals at the end of the first quarter and were in the lead 4-2. However, it wasn’t long before Dartmouth changed the narrative. Incredibly, the Big Green managed two goals in the first 90 seconds of the second quarter to bring the game to a 4-4 tie.
Heading into halftime, Dartmouth scored three more goals before Owen Kovacs ’26 was able to tack on one more goal for the Bison. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough as the Big Green scored twice more leaving the score 9-5 going into the half.
With just three minutes left in the third quarter, the Bison showed resilience and aided Meyer and Davis in scoring two goals each, leaving the score tied with only 11:29 left in the game. It wasn’t until midway through the fourth that the Big Green finally took the lead. With just 4:29 remaining, the score was 13-11 and would stay that way until the end of the game.
Dartmouth won out over faceoffs against the Bison 17-9 as well as ground balls 33-20.
The Orange and Blue are traveling for their next game this Saturday, Feb. 22 against Hobart.
