This Thursday, April 3, from 5-8 p.m., Management 101’s Company D, or “Dream to Play,” will be hosting a dine-to-donate fundraiser at the Bull Run Tap House in Lewisburg. By presenting the company’s flyer, 15% of the customer’s purchase will be directed to supporting renovations of the Little League facilities and increasing accessibility to youth sports.
Management 101 is a comprehensive class within the Bucknell management curriculum in which students learn about organizations by creating their own company and engaging with one or more external partner organizations to create value in the community. Company D will be partnering with both the Milton and Lewisburg Little Leagues. The company’s goal is to conduct meaningful service projects to improve the infrastructure of both organizations, helping to facilitate positive and memorable experiences for young athletes. As President of the Lewisburg Little League Board, Eric Kennedy has expressed, access is “not just about getting kids in the door, it’s making sure that [they] have bats, team helmets” and the other necessary resources to succeed.
The Lewisburg Little League is a nonprofit organization and a staple in the local community, empowering young athletes to hone their leadership and collaboration skills both on and off the field. The organization currently offers baseball and softball programs for boys and girls ages four to 16. Through its fundraising initiative at Bull Run Tap House, Company D is hoping to give back to an organization that has provided many young athletes with life-changing experiences.
Some of the support functions the company is looking to provide at the Lewisburg location are upgrades to the field dugouts, improving the state of the concession stands and helping to clean out the storage closets at the fields. Through Company D’s fundraiser, participation by Bucknellians and local residents can help make these changes happen.
