This week proved to be a good one for the Orange and Blue as they competed at the Youngstown State Spring Invitational on Sunday, April 6 and Monday, April 7. The course consisted of 36 holes, and nine teams competed. Of the six Bison who competed, all placed in the top 20 finishers.
Sunday started bright for the team, as Katherine Vice ’27 scored a 73 and played her last 13 holes 1-under, a career best. Sophia Bardunias ’28 finished with a 74, while Paige Richter ’26 and Nicole Yun ’27 followed with 75s. Tara Thomas ’25 and Katrina von Behren ’28 rounded out the team with a 77 and 81, respectively. Vice and Richter hit three birdies each, making up half of the 12 scored by the Bison. The team compiled a 9-over-par 297 score to finish the day in second place behind Youngstown State. Vice finished fourth individually, while Bardunias tied for fifth and Richter and Yun for ninth.
Monday proved another strong day, as Vice scored another 1-over-par 73. After parring every hole in the outward nine, she made a birdie at the par-4 10th. She finished 146 over the two days. Richter and Bardunias also picked up significant scores. Richter finished Monday with a 74 and went 149 for the tournament. Bardunias hit a 76, worse than her 74 from the day before but still finishing eighth in the entire tournament.
Vice placed third, and Richter placed seventh. Yun, Thomas and von Behren rounded out the top 20 by placing 12th, 15th and 20th, respectively.
The Bison will take a break from competition this weekend to prepare for the Patriot League Championship April 18-20 at the Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pa.
