Bison Women’s Water Polo hosted No. 10 Princeton last Saturday afternoon. The day doubled as the team’s Senior Day, during which they celebrated their three seniors, Boati Motau ʼ25, Sidney Finkler ʼ25 and Izzy Lippolis ʼ25.
Both teams started out strong offensively, combining for a total of eight goals in the first quarter. Motau opened up her Senior Day game with the first goal. Princeton responded with five consecutive goals. Finkler and a Princeton player added one more goal each before the end of the quarter.
Princeton scored three more goals before halftime. Olivia Hopper ʼ28 had the Orange and Blue’s only other goal.
The Bison managed to find the back of the net three times in the third period, outscoring their opponents who only got off two goals. The goals came from Finkler, Hayden Hedstrom ʼ28 and Ashley Hopper ʼ28.
It was all down to who could take control of the final quarter. Princeton came out strong with three goals to the Bison’s two, one from O. Hopper and one from Motau. The Bison were unable to close the gap and would drop their eighth conference game 14-8.
The Bison earned a fifth seed in the CWPA championships. Women’s Water Polo will be back in the water on April 25 as they face the fourth seed, Brown.
