Editor-in-Chief: Lindsay Beier ’27
Beier first got involved with “The Bucknellian” during their freshman year fall and quickly moved from writer to editor their freshman year spring. After serving as News Editor and Assistant Print Presentation Director, they now lead the paper as Editor-in-Chief. Their biggest goal this semester is to grow “The Bucknellian” community: “I hope to build a team of staff writers who regularly contribute and enjoy writing! I hope anyone who is interested feels more than able to join at any time, and are welcome to do so.” For them, the paper has been a way to both learn and connect. “I feel much more engaged with behind-the-scenes workings of campus, and connected with so many more awesome people I would never have met otherwise.”
Print Managing Editor: Esther Zhao ’27
A familiar face on the editorial board, Zhao has previously served as Arts & Culture Co-Editor as well as Digital Managing Editor and has been writing for “The Bucknellian” since her freshman year. She appreciates that “The Bucknellian” has given her not just editorial experience, but also friendships and a sense of belonging. “Writing can sometimes be a lonely experience,” she said. “But having a platform for people to read it and others to help edit your work along the way is really special.”
Print Presentation Director: Courtney Keller ’28
Keller jumped into the paper during her very first semester at Bucknell, writing for the Sports section and helping design the Sports layout. She later served as Assistant Sports Co-Editor before taking on her current role. To encourage others to write for “The Bucknellian”, she shared, “being involved in “The Bucknellian” is super fun, fulfilling and a great opportunity to showcase your strengths and build new skills. It is cool to see everyone’s writing, photography, graphics and design come together to make a newspaper!”
Opinions Editor: Malika Ali ’26
Joining “The Bucknellian” in Fall 2023, Ali is committed to amplifying student voices through her work. This semester, she’s hoping to cover more activism-related topics and bring in passionate new writers. “Whether it’s contributing to campus dialogue, sharing artistic pieces or writing about news that will forever be recorded in Bucknell’s history, writing for “The Bucknellian” is truly a one-of-a-kind opportunity,” she said. “It is amazing how you can make a difference with your voice and writing through the student paper.”
Special Features Editor: Hayley Leopold ’26
Leopold started writing for “The Bucknellian” as a freshman and has since held multiple roles, including Satire Co-Editor and Print Presentation Director. Now as Special Features Editor, she’s focused on spotlighting life at Bucknell: “I hope to write lots of informative articles to keep Bucknell students in the loop about all that’s happening both on and off campus!” She strongly encourages students to join the paper, adding, “being involved with “The Bucknellian” has had an immensely positive impact on my Bucknell experience. Because of my involvement, I have been able to learn so much about what Bucknell has to offer and also make new friends on the editorial board!”
Sports Co-Editor: Hugh Straine ’26
Straine began writing for the sports section during his freshman year and now serves as a Sports Co-Editor. His goal remains clear: “to deliver the best content possible on all Bucknell sports teams!” For him, “The Bucknellian” has been a highlight of his college experience. “It’s been so much fun. I genuinely love writing and getting together with the group each week. It’s a very welcoming environment and it’s one of the few that’s totally student-run.”
Sports Co-Editor: Maddie Fowler ’28
Fowler joined “The Bucknellian” as a first-year and quickly moved into an editorial role. She enjoys the camaraderie of the paper most. “It is so much fun to be a part of something bigger than yourself and to see you and your friends’ hard work in print every week.” Beyond the writing, she credits the paper with helping her make lasting connections and “break out of my shell.”
Arts & Culture Co-Editor: Abby Katz ’28
First contributing to Arts & Culture last fall and later serving as an assistant editor, Katz is now an Arts & Culture Co-Editor. The section has helped her grow as both a writer and a community member. “Through the Arts & Culture section, I have been able to learn about events and opportunities on campus, and I have read and been exposed to so many new perspectives from other writers!” she said.
Arts & Culture Co-Editor: Shaheryar Asghar ’28
For Asghar, “The Bucknellian” is more than journalism – it’s a way of connecting people. “Because it is more than just writing. It is storytelling, amplifying voices and capturing the little moments that make Bucknell what it is,” he explained. Previously an Assistant Opinions Editor, he now hopes to bring Lewisburg’s arts scene closer to campus and create space for students to feel both “represented and inspired.”
Photography Editor: Lauren Medeiros ’26
Medeiros has been behind the lens for “The Bucknellian” since her freshman year and has served as Photography Editor since spring 2023. She hopes to encourage more young photographers to get involved this semester. “The Bucknellian” is such a supportive and wonderful group of people,” she said. “We get to express our ideas and share important stories with the school. Personally, I love sharing photos of events that take place on campus.”
Web Editor: Michael Taromina ’26
Taromina joined as a first-year staff writer and has since held multiple roles, including Assistant News Editor and News Editor. Now leading the paper’s online presence, his goal is straightforward: “that we finish our issues on time and smoothly.” Beyond logistics, he values the growth the paper has given him. He shared, “it’s allowed me to explore and further my interest in journalism.”
