Bucknell University has once again been recognized among the nation’s leading liberal arts institutions, finishing tied for 30th in the category of National Liberal Arts Colleges in the new “U.S. News & World Report” 2026 Best Colleges rankings, published on Tuesday. This marks the second time in three years that Bucknell has placed in the top 30 in this category, improving from 31st last year.
In addition to its overall standing, Bucknell was ranked seventh among Most Innovative National Liberal Arts Colleges, a recognition of the University’s commitment to developing forward-looking programs and initiatives. The University’s College of Engineering was also honored, tying for seventh in the Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs, Non-Doctorate category. Within engineering specialties, Bucknell ranked third in civil, third in electrical, third in mechanical and fourth in computer engineering.
Bucknell was further recognized for its dedication to student engagement, placing 22nd in First-Year Experiences and tying for 34th in Undergraduate Research/Creative Projects.
Bucknell’s reputation for excellence was also highlighted in several other national rankings released this fall. In its first-ever list of colleges that best prepare graduates for long-term career success, LinkedIn named Bucknell the top liberal arts college in the country and ranked it 21st overall among the “50 Top Colleges in the U.S.” Forbes recognized Bucknell as 19th among its Top 50 Small Colleges, which includes institutions enrolling fewer than 4,000 students. And in Niche’s 2026 Best Liberal Arts Colleges in America, Bucknell was ranked 30th.
“These rankings highlight Bucknell’s distinctive combination of academic excellence, innovation and career preparation,” says Bucknell President John Bravman. “They reflect the exceptional work of our faculty, staff and students, as well as the lifelong value of a Bucknell education.”
The 2026 “U.S. News & World Report” Best Colleges rankings were calculated using academic reputation, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, financial resources and alumni outcomes. Information was collected during the spring and summer of 2025 through “U.S. News & World Report’s” annual survey of colleges. More than 1,800 institutions were considered in this year’s rankings.
