This Monday, April 6, marked the start of Bucknell’s 2026 Greek Week, planned extensively by Panhellenic and IFC Executive Boards. Bucknell’s Fraternitity and Sorority affairs (FSA) describes Greek Week as “a week-long celebration of the fraternity and sorority community, bringing chapters together through friendly competition, philanthropy and community-building events. From high-energy competitions to service initiatives, it’s all about showcasing Greek unity, spirit and impact.” Chapters are highly encouraged to participate in and attend each event, as the chapter with the highest overall point total, which is determined based on participation, donations and performance, will ultimately be determined as the Greek Week champion.
More notable than the title of Greek Week winner, however, is the organization that will benefit from funds raised during this exciting week: Camp Koala, a free summer camp in Mifflinburg, which states their mission as “provid[ing] grieving children with tools and resources to manage their grief in a healthy way, and to provide companionship in a supportive environment.” All funds raised during the week will be going directly to Camp Koala, an extra incentive for participants to consider.
The week itself consists of a wide variety of creative events and opportunities scattered throughout the days:
Monday’s activities consisted of a Kickball competition across chapters and the first “Dine and Donate” opportunity at Culture Coffee, which offered a sponsored Greek Week drink for the majority of the days.
On Tuesday, Fraternity members had the opportunity to attend a Keynote led by Matthew Stefanko, the CEO of MANUAL, regarding job search and career stress, offering insight and strategies. Chapters were also encouraged to visit Bull Run for the second “Dine and Donate” opportunity, as well as a Trivia competition later in the night.
Chapters had two “Dine and Donate” opportunities on Wednesday at Amami and Culture Coffee. Later in the evening, students were able to attend a seminar in the ELC Terrace Room about NPHC/D9 Organizations and a subsequent Food Truck social on the Science Quad.
On Thursday, students were encouraged to participate in Greek-led service pop-ups across campus from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm and sorority chapters were given their own Keynote presentation led by Nicki Joiner, a former corporate recruiter for a Fortune 100 company, focused on networking and standing out in competitive fields.
Greek Week will wrap up both on Friday with Greek Sing, a friendly talent competition filled with spirit and creativity and two events on Sunday: a Downtown Lewisburg clean-up and finally, “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes,” an event intended to raise awareness about the importance of allyship, especially regarding gender-based violence and sexual assault and the importance of allyship; FSA described this even as an “opportunity for men to symbolically put themselves in women’s shoes by literally walking a racecourse in high heels.”
Greek Week is a fantastic opportunity for members of both Greek organizations and Bucknell student life to come together as a community in a fun and engaging way, for the benefit of a meaningful cause.
