Men’s golf pleased with performance in Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate

The men’s golf team traveled to Williamsburg, Va. for the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate, a three-day tournament beginning on March 23 where teams from across the nation competed. The Bison finished 25th out of 27 teams, but they were not disappointed with the placing due to their high level of play and the stiffness of their competition.

The Bison were led by Schuyler Stitzer ’14, who shot a 76, 76, and 74 for a 226-stroke total. Stitzer did not score anything worse than a bogey during the tournament. Not far behind Stitzer were Thomas Walter ’14 and Peter Scialabba ’15, who each carded a 234 for the tournament. Scialabba finished strong with a 75 on March 25 despite the cold, wet weather.

“We were fairly pleased with our performance this weekend. Our main takeaway is to maintain our mental toughness when conditions are tough and keep our focus on every shot. Even though it has been hard to practice our physical games with the weather, we were able to shoot some decent scores by staying mentally tough,” Scialabba said.

D.J. Magee ’17 and Zach Pogust ’15 also competed for the Bison, scoring a 238 and 242, respectively.

The team now looks forward to the Villanova Wildcat Invitational at White Manor Country Club, which will take place beginning on March 31 and continuing into April 1.
