The women’s golf team capped off their 2014 season when they claimed the Patriot League Championship on April 19 and 20 by swinging into a grand total of 930 points over 54 holes. Seniors Bridget Wilcox, Kasha Scott, and Lauren Bernard ended their Orange and Blue careers with this terrific victory.

“Ending my college golf career by winning the Patriot League Championship means so much to me.” Bernard said, “I’m so proud of my teammates and all of their hard work and dedication.  Every person on the team contributed to this win and winning the championship as a team is all I could have ever asked for.”

The team’s real success began during the second round of competition when Bernard registered a 73, one-over-par. Heading into the third and fourth rounds of play, Bernard’s efforts gave the Bison the advantage of one-stroke over Lehigh and a 12-shot lead over Boston University. However, the Boston University Terriers rallied back to bring themselves within a 2-stroke distance of the Bison.

Refusing to relinquish their lead, the Orange and Blue pushed forward, led by Bernard with an on-par finish. Wilcox secured the Bison victory in the final Bison group by making par on No. 17 while her Boston University opponent made bogey. Wilcox’s performance helped to seal the Bison’s triumph, bringing the Orange and Blue its first league title. Finishing first out of five teams, the Bison ended their 2014 season with an impressive victory in the Patriot League Championship.

“The entire team stepped up this weekend and it was such an amazing experience to win the Patriot League Championship.” Wilcox said of the team’s success, “We all worked so hard for this tournament and I am so proud of my teammates.  This was a very special win for the seniors especially and I could not have imagined a better finish my collegiate golf career.”
