Environmental Center celebrates Earth Day with garden party

The Environmental Center hosted Music in the Garden in honor of Earth Day on April 22. The event overlooked the garden and river stream in the backyard of the center. There were signs with pictures of the different plants that are present throughout campus. Due to the brutal winter that the University has experienced this year, some of the plants are still in the process of growing.

A spread of food was also provided for those that attended, which included cookies, fruit, natural chips and pretzels, and cheesecake bites. The food displayed was matched with a quote from a classic novel. “The Hobbit” was represented with scones, daisy thumb print cookies were inspired by “The Great Gatsby,” and Emily Dickinson’s coconut cake recipe was decorated with petal flowers.

“I was welcomed by warm smiles, lavender lemonade, and scones. I enjoyed the coffee shop-like experience, it was a great day to spend Earth Day,” Helen Vu ’16 said.

After the guests enjoyed their treats they went outside for performances from Beyond Unison and the Offbeats.
