Volleyball pushes Navy to fifth set in loss

As Patriot League play continued, the volleyball team traveled to American on Sept. 26 and Navy on Sept. 27. Although the Bison fell 3-0 against American, they pushed the Navy match to five sets in a 3-2 loss.

In the third conference match of the season, the Bison had a hard time keeping up with American. Still, there was plenty of effort all around, starting with Meghan Wentzel’s ’16 10 assists. American finished the sweep (25-9, 25-12, 25-18), although the Orange and Blue improved with each set. Hailey Stout ’18 and Karen Campbell ’16 had five kills each.

After the large defeat, the Bison battled their way through a tough match with Navy. Battling to a fifth-set tiebreaker, the Orange and Blue competed with Navy throughout each set, although they eventually fell 16-14 in the final set of the match.

Navy took a 2-1 lead before the Bison claimed a 25-21 win in the fourth set to force the tiebreaker. Erika Eastley ’17 and Jordan Walker ’17 had double digit kills in the match.

The Orange and Blue (2-10 overall, 1-3 Patriot League) head to Bethlehem, Pa. to face Lehigh on Oct. 3 before returning home for a match against Lafayette on Oct. 4 at 5 p.m.
