Against the top teams in the nation, the women’s cross country team stood its ground at the Panorama Farms Invitational on Sept. 26, finishing in seventh place out of 10 teams. Although it was not a first-place finish like they were accustomed to, the Orange and Blue performed well against the stiff competition.

The Bison finished ahead of Clemson, Liberty, and High Point, totaling 194 points. No. 10 Virginia and No. 26 William & Mary claimed the top two spots in the rankings with 37 and 74 points, respectively.

The top runner for the Bison was Montana DiPietrantonio ’15, who finished in 32nd overall (22:31). Sarah Chandler ’17 (22:37) and Brennan Sharkey ’18 (22:42) finished in 36th and 39th, respectively, out of 85 top runners.

Sharkey earned Patriot League Female Rookie of the Week honors, the third time she has earned that award this year. With three races in the books and three more to go before the Patriot League Championships, Sharkey has been the most consistently successful rookie on this year’s team.

The Orange and Blue will travel to Bethlehem, Pa. for the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh on Oct. 4.
