The men’s golf team displayed a strong showing at the Binghamton Invitational on Oct. 5 and 6, placing fourth out of 16 teams overall. John Edler ’17 and Peter Scialabba ’15 had notably strong showings, both finishing in the top-10 individually at a tie for sixth place.

The first day of the tournament saw a particularly strong showing from Scialabba, who shot a five-under-par 67. This score brought him the individual lead after the first day of competition, as it was his career-best as a Bison. This was Scialabba’s second time scoring in the 60s. The first was during the 2012 Patriot League Championship when he scored a 69 and won Rookie of the Year. Scialabba’s 67 is just behind the school record of 65, recorded by Ben Pellicani ’06.

In addition to Scialabba, the rest of the Bison had strong showings on the first day as well. Edler posted an even-par 72, Daniel Levin ’18 shot a 74, and Zachary Melnick ’17 shot a 77 to round out the scoring for the Bison.

The performances only improved for the Bison as the tournament continued the next day. Edler finished with his second even-par 72, and Scialabba finished the last round with a 77. D.J. Magee ’17 shot a 74, Levin shot a 76, and Melnick scored a 78 to complete a successful finish for the Bison.

Host Binghamton claimed the team title with a 576, just a few shots above the Orange and Blue’s total of 589.

After such a successful performance, the Bison will have momentum heading into their next tournament, the Lehigh Invitational on Oct. 18 and 19.
