Bucknell’s Women Swimming & Diving Win against George Washington

In its first scored meet of the season, the women’s swimming and diving team hosted both George Washington and Boston University on Oct. 18. The Bison defeated George Washington 184-115, but fell to Boston 198-102.

Sixteen events took place on the day, with Boston winning 13 of them. George Washington came in first for two of the events, while Emma Levendoski ’16 was the lone first-place winner for the Bison.

Levendoski won the 100 back by 1.53 seconds out of 12 competitors. She also performed strongly in the 200 back with a second-place finish, in addition to finishing third in the 200 medley relay and second in the 400 free relay.

Ashley Henderson ’16 placed second in the 100 breast and the 200 IM, as well as third in the 200 breast. Diana Hanson ’17 came in third in the 100 breast, and Leah Bloodgood ’18 finished fourth for the same event. Bloodgood came in second for the 200 breast also, with Gina Gautieri ’15 finishing fourth.

Diver Katie Hetherington ’15 came in second in the one-meter dive, while Tara Boyle ’15 placed third off the three-meter. The victory over  George Washington was the first win for the Orange and Blue this season.

The Bison will be travelling to Pittsburgh for a non-league dual meet on Oct. 25.
