Several players contributed to the men’s tennis team’s success during its road trip this past weekend. The Orange and Blue fell to nationally-ranked Princeton 6-1 on Feb. 7 before rebounding against Fordham in a 6-1 win later that night. On the next day, Feb. 8, the Bison swept their three doubles matches to grab a 5-2 win over Hofstra and improve their season record to 3-1.

The Orange and Blue faced a steep challenge against 57th-ranked Princeton. Ben Gerber ’18 came away with two victories, the first was a singles win over a top-50 rookie 6-2, 7-6 (5). He also partnered with Maxwell Kane ’18 to take the only doubles victory (6-4) over the Tigers.

The Bison claimed both doubles matches and five of the six singles matches against Fordham. Nick Bybel ’16 and Bryan Adams ’17 both racked up singles wins along with a 6-2 doubles win over the Rams. The pair of Gerber and Kane also grabbed a doubles win (6-3).

Daniel Wright ’18 (6-2, 6-0), William Szamosszegi ’18 (6-4, 6-0), and Kane (6-2, 6-4) rounded out the singles victories for the Bison.

Gerber’s momentum continued the next day against Hofstra after winning his singles match 6-4, 6-4 and partnered with Kane for a 6-4 doubles victory. Gerber is now 3-0 this spring.

Bybel, Wright, and Kane also claimed singles wins. The pairs of Bybel/Adams and Octavio Canibe ’15/Wright capped the doubles sweep for the Orange and Blue.

In the Bison’s next match, they travel to New Jersey on Feb. 15 to battle Saint Peter’s.
