After winning three of its final four regular season games, the women’s basketball team lost to fifth-seeded Navy 60-49 on March 6 at Sojka Pavilion in the Patriot League Tournament.

Although the Bison defeated Navy in both contests earlier in the season, they were unable to pull out that same magic in the conference tournament. They started off strong with a 22-17 lead late in the first half, but an 11-0 run put Navy in the lead at halftime.

The Bison came out fast in the second half, but were unable to recapture the lead at any point in the second half. It was only the second time since January that the team failed to reach 50 points.

“The loss against Navy was definitely tough. Unfortunately, we didn’t have our best game, and Navy played great, but sometimes that’s the way it goes. Regardless of the sad outcome, I still had a great time this season,” said Audrey Dotson ’15.

Dotson’s excellent collegiate career came to an end, but not until she scored 13 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks in 36 minutes of play. The senior ended her four years with 1,285 total points, which puts her 11th in school history.

Claire DeBoer ’17 led all Bison with 15 points in the contest on 4-10 shooting, and Jacquie Klotz ’18 fell two points shy of another double-double after grabbing 12 rebounds.

Although the Bison were disappointed in the final outcome, this was a very strong season for the squad. Dotson earned a spot on the First Team All-Patriot League, DeBoer was placed onto the Second Team All-Patriot League, and Klotz was the Patriot League Rookie of the Year.

“I wouldn’t have wanted to spend my last season with any other team, and I am so fortunate to have been able to spend every day with my amazing teammates and coaches,” said Dotson.

The 18 wins were the most for the Orange and Blue in eight seasons. Dotson, Micki Impellizeri ’15, Katherine Harris ’15, and Tara Wilk ’15 are all graduating after impressive contributions to the team.
