On March 29, the women’s rowing team kicked off its official spring season of competition by heading down to Fairfax, Va. at the Occoquan Sprints. There were six Bison boats competing, and all six boats advanced to the finals of their respective event

The novice lightweight four boat finished first in the novice four race, and was the only gold medal for the Orange and Blue that day. All three boats that entered the varsity heats advanced to the finals as well. The Bison’s “B” boat came in fourth, the “C” boat came in fifth, and the “A” boat came in seventh. Furthermore, the Bison had two boats in the novice eight competition, which finished in second and third place in the finals.

“We’ve been working hard all season and this race was a great start. All of our freshman boats medaled and our varsity boats also performed well, so it was an all-around great start to the racing season,” Mclean Doran ’18 said.

Mclean was part of the novice eight “B” boat, which came in third in the final.

Next up for the Bison is an April 4 face-off against Drexel and Temple on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia as part of the Skotedis Cup.
