Spring Tailgate to build on fall success

The University will hold a spring tailgate in support of the men’s lacrosse team as they face off against Loyola University Maryland on April 17. The festivities will begin at 4 p.m., when students can enjoy food and drinks, as well as lawn games and socializing.

The tailgate is sponsored the Department of Athletics, the Undergraduate Executive Internship Program, Bucknell Student Government (BSG), Panhellenic Council, and Bison Rec.

Ben Burgess ’16 will perform as a DJ at the event. After the success of last fall’s tailgate, months of planning went into the spring tailgate. While the tailgate starts at 4 p.m., the game will start at 7 p.m.

The University has provided double the amount of food and drinks; in the fall, they expected 500 students while over 1,000 students actually attended. They also worked to improve the space between attendees over 21 and those under 21. The University will provide a smaller tent for food and activities.

“I really hope that this tailgate will be an event that brings together people from all over the Bucknell community and can serve as an example for future events on campus. So many events on this campus are divided based on things such as organization affiliation and class, and I hope that the tailgate has the ability to break down these barriers and bring together the entire campus community over a common cause,” Jared Lowenthal ’15 said.

The last change made from the fall tailgate is the addition of a buffet-style Flying Bison food option, which will allow students to obtain food in a faster and easier manner.
