The women’s golf team hosted their annual Bucknell Invitational from Sept. 19-20 at the Bucknell Golf Club for their second competition of the season. Despite falling to 12th place, the team had solid performances from many women. The tournament lasted two days, split up with 36 holes on Sept. 19 and 18 holes on Sept. 20. The Orange and Blue were one of 14 teams competing, including rivals Richmond and Lehigh. All eight members of the women’s golf team participated in the Bucknell Invitational, with five playing toward the team score and three women playing as individuals.

The Bison shot a 323-325 for a 648 total during the opening day. This placed them five shots behind ninth-place Siena after day one of the tournament. Katie Childers ’19 impressively topped the list of University golfers with a 79-78. Childers has now shot under 80 in four out of her five career rounds. Other memorable performances include Jen Lee ’16 with 84-90, Meghan Garanich ’16 who shot 97-91, and Graysen Bright ’19 with 87-92.

The second and last day of the invitational concluded with the Bison dropping to 12th place after an initial 10th place standing. The Orange and Blue closed with a 331 team score and a total of 979. The women shot 323-325-331, with Emily Larson ’17 leading the team with a score of 80. Lee shot 82, Lindsay Dodovich ’18 carded an 83, and Childers finished with an 86.

“Although our scores weren’t what we may have hoped for this weekend, the team showed a lot of potential for success in future tournaments and we are looking forward to the rest of the season,” Dodovich said.

The women’s golf team will be competing at the East Carolina Invitational Sept. 28-29.
