Family Weekend Preview

Each fall, the University opens the campus to parents, friends, and families for an activity-packed Family Weekend. On Sept. 25-27, hundreds of parents will flock to Lewisburg in an attempt to experience the place their children will be calling (or are already calling) home for four years.

Beginning Sept. 25, the campus will come alive with celebrations of students’ academics, extracurricular activities, and family reunions. With activities ranging from Academic Department Open Houses to Christy’s A Capella Concert, there will be many activities for families to partake in.

“I’m looking forward to meeting some of my students’ families in our Markets, Innovation & Design open house on Friday,” Assistant Professor of Management Seth Orsborn said.

With each academic department hosting its own open house, parents can get a glimpse into the daily lives of their children.

“I’m looking forward to seeing my parents and my sister and letting them know about how my freshman year has been going so far. It’s going to be great to be able to spend time and catch up with them,” Andrew Antonacci ’19 said.

“All of us in the Chips can’t wait to perform at Christy’s this Parents Weekend. Christy’s is the first chance we get to show off that classic Chips charm we’ve been working so hard for the past month to give you all a spectacular performance,” Tom Murphy ’17 said.

One highlight of this weekend’s festivities is the annual President’s Address, held by President John Bravman on Sept. 26 at 10:30 a.m. in the Weis Center for the Performing Arts. This address is open to both parents and students and will be followed by a question and answer session.

“Family Weekend is a delightful opportunity to show relatives why Bucknell means so much to us,” Bucknell Student Government (BSG) President Alexandra Rosen ’16 said.
