On Jan. 30 the men’s tennis team traveled to New York to face Le Moyne and Binghamton in its season opener. The Bison first cruised past Le Moyne with a dominant 9-0 win and then later in the day dropped against Binghamton for a 7-0 loss. The next day they played at Hershey Racquet Club, where they defeated La Salle 7-0.

Against Le Moyne, the Orange and Blue’s top three players, Daniel Wright ’18, Max Kane’18, and Bryan Adams ’17 all won in straight sets. The fourth through sixth singles matches were all played as one set to eight points, where Andrei Vitiuc ’19, Timber Erskine ’18, and Ben Gerber ’18 all emerged victorious. The Bison then proceeded to sweep all three of the doubles matches. Adams and Wright won a close victory at No 1., while Kane and Erskine and Vitiuc and Gerber proceeded to defeat their opponents at No 2. and No. 3, respectively.

After a strong win, the Bison traveled to Binghamton and were dealt a tough loss.

On Jan. 31, the Orange and Blue followed up their loss by shutting out La Salle. No 1. and No. 2 singles players, Wright and Kane, both dropped their first sets but ended up coming back and defeating their opponents in dominant straight sets. Adams, playing at No. 3, followed up with another great win. Singles players at spots four through six, Vitiuc, Max McDonald ’19, and Max Haase ’19, all shut out their opponents. The doubles teams continued the trend of powerful wins for the Bison. On court one, Adams and Erskine produced a great 6-3 victory, while the pairs of Wright/Gerber and Vitiuc/Haase won in shut outs on courts two and three.

After this weekend of competition, the Bison are now 2-1. Their next face-off is against the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Feb. 6.
