The first-place Bison played Boston University in a game that would determine the top seed in the Patriot League Tournament. The match-up was coupled with Senior Day, on Feb. 21, in which the men’s basketball team honored each of their senior players. After getting out to a comfortable nine-point lead at halftime, the Bison put the game away with a staggering shooting performance in the second half. The Bison shot for 61.5 percent from beyond the arc in the second half and had a total shooting percentage of 50 percent over the same period.

The second half surge was anchored by a monumental effort from the Bison’s seniors. Chris Hass ’16 played exceptionally, scoring a team high 21 points with four rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Ryan Frazier ’16 lit up the crowd with his electrifying outside shooting. He finished the game having made an eye-popping 57 percent from three and 54.5 percent overall, giving him 16 points total in the game. He also recorded two assists. Dom Hoffman ’16 also contributed to the three-point frenzy in the second half. He made three out of four from three and shot an exceptional 75 percent on the day, giving him 15 points overall. Hoffman also tallied nine rebounds, five assists, a block, and a steal. Matt Banas ’16 earned his first career start and then closed the game.

Boston went into the game riding a seven-game winning streak and gunning for the Bison’s first place spot. In the second half, Boston had whittled the Bison lead down to as little as six points before the seniors led their second half surge.

Frazier began the charge, draining two straight threes to put the Bison out to a 12-point lead. From then on, the seniors kept the pedal to the metal, going to a 14-point run powered by threes from Hass and Hoffman, and a layup by Stephen Brown ’18.

As the Patriot League Playoffs approach, the Bison are in a powerful position.

the Orange and Blue are now assured at least the number two seed in the Patriot League Tournament, and will host a quarterfinal game in Sojka Pavilion on Mar. 3.
