A previously unidentified male resident of the Lewisburg community was arrested after using a fire extinguisher to set off the alarm in Larison Hall and Larison Cottage at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 31. Following the completion of the ensuing investigation, Chief of Public Safety Steve Barilar confirmed the identity of the resident as a man named Adrian Vargas.

As of Feb. 29, Vargas is facing multiple charges: false alarm to agencies of public safety, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness. Though Vargas was given access to the buildings by a University student, he alone was involved in the incident, and he alone is being charged.
