In its second event at Boulder Creek Golf Course in Boulder City, Nev., the women’s golf team took fifth place in a field of 11 teams. After 54 holes of play, the Bison finished with a final team score of 957. Led by Jen Lee ’16 and Katie Childers ’19, who both represented the Orange and Blue in the top 20 finishers, the Bison completed the weekend 23 strokes in front of sixth place.

Lee carded a 79 in the final round, bringing her overall score to 234, making her the top performer for the Orange and Blue with three consecutive rounds in the 70s. Childers marked scores of 75, 77, and 85 to place her in the top 20 along with Lee. The two finished in 16th and 19th place respectively.

“It feels great to be top 20, especially in such a competitive field. Jen is one of the hardest workers I have ever met, so she really earned her place in the top 20 this week,” Childers said.

Emily Larson ’17 just missed a top 20 finish, ending in 21st place. Larson was the top performer for the Orange and Blue in the final round, posting a 77 that complemented her first two rounds.

Other notable performances for the Bison came from Lindsay Dodovich ’18 and Eunbbie Kim ’19. The final round scoring was rounded out by the two, who scored an 82 and 87, respectively.

With a strong field of competitors, a fifth-place finish for the Orange and Blue was certainly a feat, especially considering the team’s continued improvement.

“I am looking forward to traveling with the team. I have loved watching all my teammates improve every tournament leading up to Patriot Leagues,” Childers said.

The Bison will travel down to Mount Pleasant, S.C. for their next competition, where they will take on the field at the Bulldog Invitational from March 14-15.
