After riding their momentum for four wins in a row, the Bison trailed the Raiders for the entire game during April 16’s match-up at Colgate, eventually falling 10-9. Despite getting off to a rocky start with a 4-0 deficit, the Orange and Blue had multiple attempts to rally back, making the competition a close one throughout. Though they battled back to within one goal a few times during the match-up, they were unable to catch Colgate before the end of the game.

The offensive effort of the day was led Emily Becker ’16, who tallied four goals for the Bison.

“There were definitely many important moments in our game versus Colgate, but I think that like in any close game the real key moments came in the last minute or so of the game. We scored with around one minute to play to get ourselves within one goal of Colgate. Then Ally [Furbay ’16] made a great play off the draw and got the ball into our attacking end. We didn’t have a lot of time to score we got a couple good shots off, but just couldn’t find the back of the net,” Becker said.

Jamie DeWitt ’19 had a solid showing in goal for the Orange and Blue, tallying 11 saves on the day and keeping the score close. Other notable performances came from Gretchen Richter ’18, who scored two goals and grabbed five draw controls before being sidelined from a double yellow card violation. Ten turnovers by the Bison made it difficult to overcome the Raiders, who had a strong showing and only turned the ball over five times.

The Bison will host their Senior Day on April 23, when they will honor their senior team members and face Navy at 1 p.m.
