Chaylen Andolino ’17 has been playing softball since the age of four. It is no surprise that Andolino has had some stand-out performances and made important contributions in recent games for the Bison, most notably having a perfect 4-for-4 showing at the plate in the Bison’s victory over Colgate. This included a two-run home run that helped the Bison to their 9-0 win on April 24.

“My favorite part of the series this weekend was to see my team relax at the plate and generate so many runs,” Andolino said.

Andolino’s pregame ritual is nothing huge; she plugs in her headphones and blasts some loud music on her way to the field. This concentration can be clearly seen in her performances, as she has hit three home runs this season. However, it is not always easy at the plate for Andolino.

“The greatest challenge for me personally was to be relaxed and ‘not press’ when I was up to bat. I believe that same challenge was the greatest for the team, as well,” Andolino said. “We care so much that we sometimes try too hard to make things happen, rather than trusting all of the work we have put in. With that being said, I am the most proud of my team for battling through that in the first game of the series. After that learning curve, we managed to relax and do what we do best, which is always fun.”

As the Bison enter the last stretch of their season, Andolino is looking forward to Senior Weekend when the Bison will face their rival Lehigh.

“[I] believe that our goal for the remainder of the season is to focus on the next game. This has been our motto throughout the year. While we learn from our previous games, and are anxious for those ahead, we always strive to ‘win the next game’ and stay committed to our plan as a team,” Andolino said.

Andolino and the Orange and Blue will be back in action for their last home games against Lehigh on April 30 and May 1.
