After the cancellation of its game against Dayton on Aug. 26, the women’s soccer team got back on track on Aug. 28 with a 2-0 win over Wright State, improving its record to an undefeated 3-0.

The Bison were on top of their game from the start. Maddie Mulford ’18 scored the game’s first goal in just the sixth minute of the contest off a pass from Kelsey Witt ’17. It was Mulford’s first goal of this season.

In the second half, the Bison added another goal from Bailey Hurst ’20. Maddie Dano ’19 and Karli Cirovski ’18 set up the play on a corner. Dano booted the ball up into a crowd, and Cirovski controlled the pass before sending it to Hurst for her first collegiate goal.

Jessica Ratner ’17 shut down the Dayton offense, gaining the 16th shutout of her career. She became the all-time shutout leader for the school’s women’s soccer program.

“It was definitely a hot one out there and both teams had a lot of chances but we were able to put ours away and come home with a big win! [Jessica Ratner] also had a big game, and became our program’s all-time shutout leader which made the win even more exciting!” Mulford said.

“Sunday’s game was a battle, but we were able to accomplish our goals for the game. We need to keep taking one game at a time and building on our chemistry each time we play,” head coach Kelly Cook said.

The team’s next game is at 4 p.m. on Sept. 1 against Syracuse.
