Bison volleyball faces defeat on home court

The women’s volleyball team suffered two tough losses at home, falling 3-0 to both Army West Point and Holy Cross on Oct. 14 and Oct. 15, respectively. The game against Army West Point saw a strong a performance by Mimi Richards ’20. Unfortunately, the Bison were not able to pick themselves up, falling short to Army West Point with scores of 25-17, 25-15, and 25-17.

Richards was the most efficient player against Army West Point, finishing with five kills, a .333 hitting percentage, and three block assists. Bridgette Holland ’20 and Jordan Walker ’17 shared the team lead with six kills each.

Sophie Bullard ’20 led the team against Holy Cross, registering her fourth double-double in the past six matches, and finishing with 15 kills on a .343 hitting average and added 16 digs. Selby Schnobrich ’20 led the Bison with 23 assists, Holland contributed a team-high five block assists, and Hailey Stout ’18 added eight kills and eight digs. However, the team faced another tough loss with identical final scores of 25-22, 25-22, and 25-22.  The pair of losses dropped the Orange and Blue to 4-16 overall and 2-6 in the Patriot League.

“This wasn’t our best weekend. We came out and played very strong the past couple of weeks, but we were just not able to put it together these last couple of matches. We will get back to work on Monday and look forward to doing better next weekend,” head coach Anna Allison said.

The Bison will be back Oct. 21-22 to host Navy at 7 p.m. on Friday and American on Saturday at 5 p.m.
