The Bison were topped during overtime in a close game against American at Holmes Stadium on Oct. 22. American scored 42 seconds into overtime to raise American to a 3-2 victory against the Orange and Blue. Patrick Mahoney ’20 and Zack Rockmore ’17 each had a goal.

The game had a slow start with neither team having many good looks at goal, however the Bison kept the pressure on, which paid off at the end of the first half when Mahoney scored in the 44th minute. Tyler Peterson ’19 helped set up the shot, sliding a pass from the middle of the field towards the right side where Quinn Bredin ’20 drove the ball into space and was able to pull back a pass to Mahoney who made a successful finish in the lower right corner of the goal.

American came back after halftime, scoring a goal, which the Bison argued was off-side, but the goal stood and the score equalized to 1-1. Just over 10 minutes later the Eagles had another goal, however this did not keep the Bison’s heads down. They continued the pressure, coming right back as Rockmore headed a free kick from Adam Bradshaw ’17 into the back of the net to tie the game at two.

“I think that while the end result was not what we had hoped for, we played well and showed that we can play with anybody in the league. If we can make the playoffs, we’ve taken the top teams to overtime each game so we have the belief that we can really do well. With only three games left in the year, all the remaining games are huge for us so hopefully we move forward and finish the season on a high,” Rockmore said.

The Orange and Blue will play their last home game against Lehigh on Oct. 29.
