The women’s volleyball team ended their 0-5 run against Lehigh on Oct. 28 with a 3-1 upset. Bridgette Holland ’20 tallied 14 kills and eight blocks in the match. After dropping the first set 25-17, the Bison rallied to win the next three sets by scores of 25-21, 25-22, and 25-17 to pull off the victory. The win reduced Lehigh’s chances of making the Patriot League playoffs.

Head coach Anna Allison attributed the win to the team’s dedication to their motto of “as one.”

“Every single player has a role on this team and needs to have high energy during the match,” Allison said.

Along with Holland, Mimi Richards ’20 added one solo and four block assists and Jordan Walker ’17 had four block assists. Sophie Bullard ’20 recorded her sixth double-double this season, including a kill that clinched a back-and-forth third set. Kristen Parks ’17 led the team with 18 digs and Selby Schnobrich ’20 added 25 assists.

The Orange and Blue continued the weekend with a match at Lafayette on Oct. 29. The Bison won the first set 25-19, but unfortunately dropped the next three sets 25-23, 25-16, and 25-19.

Holland delivered another dominant performance with 14 kills and two block assists. Her strong play against Lehigh and Lafayette earned her Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors for the second consecutive week. Holland leads the team in both kills and blocks this season. Walker and Bullard also recorded double-digit kills in the game, and Parks led the team with 20 digs.

The Bison lost a 3-1 hard-fought match on Nov. 1 while on the road against Colgate. Colgate took the first two sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-23. Although the Orange and Blue took the third set at 25-22, Colgate rebounded to win the fourth set and secure the match victory.

Bullard and Walker led the Bison with double-doubles. Bullard recorded 16 kills and 22 digs, while Walker finished with 13 kills and 16 digs. Despite the loss, the players and coaches were satisfied with the improvement on the team from the match against Lafayette to the match at Colgate. Their record dropped to 5-20 overall and 3-10 in Patriot League play.

The Orange and Blue will face Loyola University Maryland at home on Nov. 4 at 7 p.m.
