The Department of Public Safety received reports of theft from five separate, unlocked vehicles around campus on Feb. 11. The suspect was seen in Smith parking lot, then last seen near the Olin Science building.

The thefts occurred around 8 p.m. on Feb. 11, and the suspect was reportedly wearing “a grey hooded sweatshirt, a black jacket and dark pants,” Steve Barilar, Chief of Public Safety, said in an email to students.

The incident is under the jurisdiction of Public Safety, but the department has communicated with the Buffalo Valley Regional Police Department. While there are currently no suspects, Public Safety is still actively looking and consulting security camera footage from Feb. 11.

Students are reminded to never leave their car unlocked, leave valuables in plain sight, or leave the keys in their car.

Students should “contact Public Safety if you see anyone suspicious,” Barilar said. The Department of Public Safety can be reached at (570) 577-3333.
