After being recognized for Senior Day, Claire DeBoer ’17, Sune Swart ’17, and Megan McGurk ’17 attained their 80th win as a class against Boston University on Feb. 18 at Sojka Pavilion, setting a program record. With the 73-56 win, the Bison extended their home winning streak to 24 games and clinched a top-two seed in the upcoming Patriot League Tournament. This also marks the team’s fourth consecutive victory.

The offensive output was evenly distributed, with four players in double-digits. DeBoer scored a game-high 19 points, accompanied by nine rebounds, four assists, and four steals. McGurk added a season-high 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists, while Swart added another 10 points and five rebounds. Kyi English ’19 rounded out the four double-digit scorers with 13 points. Kate Walker ’19 tallied two 3-pointers and another basket, increasing her shooting accuracy to 45 percent from the 3-point range. High scoring from a range of players resulted in the Bison having a 24-point lead during the fourth quarter.

“I think I’ve felt more confident and willing to shoot outside shots during the second half of conference play, which has definitely helped open up other aspects of my game,” DeBoer said.

The defensive effort was also strong all around, as the Bison held Boston to only 18 points in the first half, taking a 12-point lead into intermission.

The Bison remain tied with Navy for first place in the Patriot League, and have a crucial match-up with the Midshipmen on Feb. 25. The result of that contest will likely determine which team earns the top seed in the upcoming Patriot League Tournament. The Orange and Blue are already guaranteed a home quarterfinal game on March 6.
