Swimming and diving finishes second in quad meet

The Bison hosted three Patriot League teams in a quad swim meet at Kinney Natatorium on Nov. 4. Both the men’s and women’s team defeated Lafayette College and American University, but fell to 14-time defending Patriot League champion Navy.

For the women’s team, Emma Hadley ’20, Maggie Wyngowski ’21, Caroline Edelman ’18, and Lindsay Smalec ’19 all finished first in their respective events. Hadley won both the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke with times of 56.38 and 2:01.39, respectively. Wyngowski took home the title in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:20.66 and finished second and third in the 400-yard IM and 100-yard breaststroke, respectively. She holds the seventh fastest time in school history in the 400-yard IM. Edelman won the 50 free, while Smalec finished first in the 100-yard butterfly.

On the men’s side, Garret Sommer ’21 won three meter diving with a score of 238.50, while Matt McGoey ’20 and Michael Park ’20 finished first and second in the 400-yard IM with times of 4:13.46 and 4:20.23, respectively. The quad of Charlie McFarland ’19, McGoey, Nate Romanowski ’21, and Jacob Lubinski ’21 finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relays with a time of 1:27.57.

Both the women and men return to Kinney Natatorium on Nov. 17 as they host the annual Bison Invitational.
