As anticipation builds for the University’s Fall Concert, some uncultured members of the student body are surfing the web left and right in a determined effort to sound like they know what they are talking about when the Amigos arrive on Saturday night.

“My friends all seem really excited for the concert, but I don’t know who these Amigos are,” Dan Khan-Yaiwest ’19 said. “I feel like I have to keep up somehow, so I’ve been scouring Wikipedia for the past three months, searching for answers. I have found nothing except some cool hip-hop trio from Georgia. But there’s no ‘a’ in their name so I’m going to keep looking.”

First-year Spanish student Scott Michaelson ’21 remembered the lessons he learned in the classroom and made bold conclusions about the incoming band.

“After some intense research, I realized that ‘amigos’ is Spanish for ‘friends,’” Michaelson said. “So my guess is that the school hired a team to foster friendship and collaboration within the University community.”

Loren Michaels ’20 was thrilled to learn that the University was bringing in the Three Amigos, but was confused when she saw that they would be performing a concert rather than a comedy routine.

“Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, and Martin Short are all so talented, so I guess it doesn’t surprise me that they can put on a concert of some sort,” Michaels said. “Though I wouldn’t have pegged them for rappers.”

As the student body struggles to find the origins of the elusive group, many enterprising individuals have started a casual betting system regarding the identity of the Amigos. A table has been set up in Bertrand Library for students to place their bets and the jackpot currently stands at $10,000.

“I’m just glad the performance has finally arrived because I’m tired of pretending to act like I know who the Amigos are,” Khan-Yaiwest said.

“If Steve Martin isn’t there I’m going to be very upset,” said Michaels.

The mystery will be resolved at 7:00 p.m. Nov. 11 in the Sojka Pavilion.
