The Bison men’s tennis team struggled in their 2018 season opener on Jan. 20 as they battled No. 3 North Carolina and Wofford in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Orange and Blue lost to both teams, ranking them sixth in the Patriot League with a record of 3-4, and a 11-18 record overall.

The Orange and Blue started the day with a 0-7 loss to the Tar Heels. Max Kane ’18 and Timber Erskine ’18 played a tough match in the second doubles position, but dropped the last set 3-6.

Later in the day, the Bison played Wofford, but could not pull out a win. Max McDonald ’19 fought hard during his three-set match, winning the first set 7-5, but dropped the last two sets 1-6 and 7-10.

Our team competed very well for our first two matches back. We lost to two very tough teams,” Kane said. I have very high hopes for this season because we have three dedicated first years who are willing to put in the work to get better. The seniors are gearing up for their last season, so all four of us are ready to give everything we’ve got during this final semester.”

The Orange and Blue will compete next in the NJIT invitational on Jan. 27-28.
