The women’s tennis team defeated Mount St. Mary’s with a score of 5-2 on April 13. Continuing the momentum, the team overcame Loyola 6-1 on Senior Day on April 14. With the two wins, the Bison concluded the season 14-7 overall.

In a non-conference matchup against Mount St. Mary’s, Mishi Papich ’19 stepped up after losing the first set to win the remaining two, overcoming her opponent. Also contributing wins were Cayla Koch ’21, Rachel Carroll ’21, and Sofia Ayuso ’21, who all did so in straight sets.

In doubles, Lisa Jouravleva ’18 joined forces with Emilie Bush ’18 to secure a 6-4 victory. Meanwhile, Danielle Gannon ’19 and Ayuso played in their first-ever match together, winning 7-5.

Just one day later, the team honored its four seniors, Jouravleva, Allie Lane ’18, Madeline Melch ’18, and Bush. Improving to 11-7 overall, Jouravleva defeated her opponent with a 6-2, 6-4 win, ultimately recording the match-clinching point.

The women’s team will now wait to learn their seed in the Patriot League Tournament at Army West Point on April 19-22.

The men’s team was swept 7-0 in a Patriot League matchup against Navy. Both doubles matches went to tiebreakers, with Ben Gerber ’18 and Daniel Wright ’18 getting just edged out on court one and Max McDonald ’19 and Andrei Vitiuc ’19 losing a close game on court two. Gerber and Max Garramone ’21 held their own in singles, but dropped tight matchups to their opponents.

With the loss, the Bison’s record moves to 5-20 overall this season and 2-4 in the Patriot League. The Orange and Blue will return to the court on April 21 when they host Boston University for Senior Day, and April 22 when they travel to Loyola to close the regular season.
