The Bison women’s tennis team closed out their season on April 20 at the 2018 Patriot League Tournament at Army West Point. The fifth-seeded Bison fell to fourth-seeded Lehigh in a 4-0 sweep for the Mountain Hawks in the quarterfinals.

Three of the day’s six singles contests and one of three doubles matches went unfinished after Lehigh secured an early lead. In her last collegiate match, Lisa Jouravleva ’18 and partner Paige Leavy ’20 led 5-4 when play was ended. The powerhouse pair finished their season 13-6.

Despite falling short during post-season play, the season saw tremendous improvement by the team and showcased rising tennis stars. Sofia Ayuso ’21 was unable to seal her 7-6, 4-3 lead in the match, but finished with a remarkable 12-2 record in her rookie season. This season also marks the program’s third consecutive season with double-digit victories, as they finished with a 14-8 overall record.

The tournament also marked the end of Jouravleva’s game-changing run with the Bison. She will graduate with the ninth most single wins in program history with a 62-32 record, 13th most doubles wins at 48-40, and 11th most combined wins at 110-72.

Lehigh proceeded to fall to top-seeded Navy, who eventually came in second place behind Army West Point.
