The University’s Department of Theatre and Dance will present the Fall Dance Showcase on Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. in the Harvey M. Powers Theatre. Over 100 students have been involved in the preparation and planning of the event, including the members of five introductory-level dance courses.

“Showcase has been a really great opportunity to meet other dancers, and I love how it highlights all different styles of dance,” Cara O’Neill ’22 said of her experience preparing for the show.

Other performers will include the Bison Girls, the Bisonettes, and the Irish Step dance group, with dancers of all ability levels, majors, and class years. The dances that will be shown are directed and choreographed by students, faculty, and guest choreographers with styles ranging from hip-hop to tap. The lighting and stage crew is also entirely comprised of students.

“The dancers, choreographers, techs and more have worked so hard to bring the theatre and dance together to create a space of inclusion and acceptance. Everyone is welcomed and appreciated–that’s what dancing is all about” Trey Gaither ’21 said.

“I’m really looking forward to showcasing the piece the other dancers and I have been working hard on for the past couple months. I’m so excited to finally perform it!” Ellie Hooker ’21 said.

Tickets for this year’s Fall Dance Showcase are available at the Cap Center, the Weis Center for the Performing Arts’ box office, online, and at the door at the time of the shows. Those planning on buying tickets at the door are encouraged to arrive early in case of long lines. Tickets are $7.
