The Bison women’s tennis team traveled to New York and defeated St. Bonaventure on Feb. 2 in a 6-1 victory. The following day, the Bison took on Siena and came out on top with a 4-3 win, starting their spring 2019 campaign with a 2-0 record.

St. Bonaventure struggled to compete with the Bison, as the Orange and Blue won five out of the six singles matches. The individual victories were tallied by Daniela Bellini ’22, Cayla Koch ’21, Paige Leavy ’20, Mishi Papich ’19, and Sofia Ayuso ’21.

Leavy and Koch paired to earn points for the Bison in the doubles match on court one, along with Papich and Jill Auteri ’20, who secured the victory on court three.

“Everyone is starting the season with clear individual and team goals and we are very excited to continue to put them in practice in our coming matches,” Ayuso said.

The Siena match was a closer battle, with the points coming down to the final match, but Auteri bore down to secure a 4-3 win for the Bison.

Koch, Papich, and Ayuso also secured singles wins for the Orange and Blue against Siena.

The Bison will look to build on their successful start against Niagara on Feb. 9 at the Central PA Tennis Center.
