The Bison men’s and women’s tennis teams had strong showings from Sept. 6 to Sept. 8 in the Bucknell Invitational. The women’s team played especially well bringing home five total championships.

Over the three day competition, the women’s team won three singles championships and both doubles brackets. Cayla Kotch ’21 and Dax Seidlin ’23 combined to win the first championship of the weekend and were then followed up Daniela Bellini ’22 and Sofia Ayuso ’23 who won the B Bracket. Seidlin and Ayuso also won their respective bracket in singles and the Bison were awarded another singles title when Bellini and Kotch advanced to the finals in the A bracket even though they didn’t play the final match. This tournament was also the first in the tenure of new head coach Tammy Cecchini.

The men also had a very strong tournament led by Cooper Bradshaw ’22 who took home the A singles championship title. First-years Guillermo Torres ’23 and Chunyu Chen ’23 had strong starts to their Bison careers. Each finished third in singles and teamed up to finish third in men’s A doubles. After the tournament ended, the Bison hosted Dickenson in a dual match and prevailed 7-0 by winning every single’s match in straight sets.

The Orange and Blue will look to build on this performance when they travel to Annapolis, Md. to compete in the Bill and Sandra Moore Invitational from Sept. 13 to Sept. 15.
