The Orange and Blue volleyball team hosted the Bison Invitational on Sept. 20-21. Playing three matches over the two days against Hampton, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Delaware State, the team finished the weekend with their 10th consecutive win, the best in school history.

On Sept. 20, the Bison played a match against Hampton. Anna Carroll ’21 collected a team-high 10 kills within the first set, while Brooke Stark ’20 collected 15 digs. This sparked the Bison to maintain their competitiveness over the next two sets. This combination of high-energy and strong performances allowed the Bison to end the match in three sets (25-17, 25-22, 25-17).

The following day, the Bison continued the invitational with a match against Delaware State. Leading the match in kills, digs, assists, and aces courtesy of Mimi Richards ’20 and Sophie Bullard ’20, each of whom had 10 kills, the Bison concluded this match with another victory in a total of four sets (19-25, 25-14, 25-7, 26-24).

The Orange and Blue finished the weekend with a match against Fairleigh Dickinson. Emma Buchanan ’22 had three blocks and nine kills, while Bullard finished the match with 10 kills and 13 digs. In their 10th consecutive win, the Bison defeated the opposition (25-20, 25-22, 25-17).

“We’ve grown a lot as a team since the beginning of preseason until now and our record reflects all the hard work and hours we’ve put in so far. We’re excited to see the start of league play and make a statement this year,” Angela Pieroni ’22 said.

The Orange and Blue will begin league play this upcoming weekend at home when they face Lehigh on Sept. 28. The team will then take on Lafayette on Sept. 29.
