On Oct. 19, the Bison women’s soccer team took on Navy in a Patriot League matchup. Despite a strong Bison effort, Navy snatched a 1-0 win in overtime.

The Bison competed on defense throughout the game. Freshman goalkeeper Kaylee Donnelly ’23 made five saves. Other players found themselves in contributing roles to save dangerous balls from Navy forwards. Among the closest opportunities to get on the board came from Chloe Christakos ’21, who sent a free kick over the crossbar.

A goal was ultimately scored in overtime by Navy. Early in overtime, Donnelly made a crucial save to keep the Bison in the game.

“We had a tough OT loss this past weekend against Navy, but we learned a few lessons that hopefully we can carry on this weekend, as we have to huge games against Loyola and American,” Holly Burns ’22 said. “We have worked a lot this week on creating an effective attack, and I think that is something that will be helpful in putting away some goals on some solid Patriot League opponents. We have made huge improvements since the start of the season, so we are super excited to get some results against tough teams this week!”

The Orange and Blue played a competitive game against Loyola at Emmitt Field on Wed. Oct. 23. Both teams stood firm defensively and the game finished 0-0 after both overtime periods being played. The draw drop[ed the Bison to 5-5-4 on the season and 2-2-2 in conference play. The Orange and Blue currently sit in 4th place in the Patriot League standings with 8 points.

Following Loyola, the Bison will also host American on Saturday, Oct. 26 at their Senior Day. The Bison will honor seniors Gabby Bair ’20, Ali Russo ’20, Lily Courts ’20, Bailey Hurst ’20 and Dani Kaufman ’20
