BSG hosts Kick or Treat

This past weekend at the Bison men’s soccer Patriot League match against Army, the Bucknell Student Government (BSG) Community Committee sponsored Kick or Treat, inviting Lewisburg children and their families to attend the match and show off their Halloween spirit in a special halftime parade.

During halftime, Bucky the Bison led the parade of costumed kids around Emmitt Field. BSG Community Committee member Victoria Loffredo ’22 said the parade was a “success, despite the weather. It’s fun to walk on the field with Bucky.”

After the parade, the kids were invited to grab some treats and make some crafts. BSG had prepared activities such as pumpkin painting, ring toss, cornhole and face painting. Many kids and their parents enjoyed the candy and treats provided by BSG. Caden Papson, age 9, picked up a cupcake that he described as “soft, fluffy, amazing.”

Kick or Treat pulls the University community closer to the Lewisburg community. The head of the BSG Community Committee, Esha Sharma ’20, explained that the goal of events like these is to “bring the Lewisburg and Bucknell communities together. This is one of two annual events that bring together both communities.”

Families then gathered back to the stands to watch the second half of the soccer game. Although the men’s soccer team had a tough game against Army, the halftime parade lifted everyone’s spirits. Men’s soccer team member Alex Clarke ’22 agreed that “it’s great to get families – especially young children – involved and supporting the team.”
